Biographical note

Minutes include discussion of revisions/modifications to the new Constitution (Council meetings 1968 and 1971 held in Primosten, Yugoslavia) and other organisational changes to the Association during this early period of consolidation and growth:

Auditors Report, 1964 - 1968, presents IEA accounts up to and following IEA Incorporation in 1968;

Editors Report to Council, 1971, records the decision to 'upgrade' the Bulletin to the 'International Journal of Epidemiology';

Membership Secretary's Reports, including membership list with country/continent of origin, reflect on-going Council policy to increase IEA presence, members and activities in developing countries and other regions outside the UK, US and western Europe;

Secretary's Report to Council 1964 - 1968: The IEA entered into official relationship with the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in 1966; the Association was represented at the WHO Executive Board by Council member and Educational Secretary Dr. Roy Acheson in 1969.

Council minutes, August 1971, records that Council member, Professor Richard Doll, elected to Council in 1964 and 1968, was knighted in June 1971.
