Biographical note

Emergency Medical Service Centre located in 2 rooms at the Medical School, 1940; 1946 relocated to Jesmond Road, and in 1951 further expansion led to move to Archbold Terrace. In 1956 a new Centre developed as part of the Institute of Pathology, Newcastle General Hospital, opened on 28 Jul by Sir Harold Himsworth, Secretary of the Medical Research Council. In 1985 a new Centre was built at Holland Road, officially opened 17 Oct by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester
