NCT Handbook

The NCT handbook was provided to NCT workers as a reference guide to the National Childbirth Trust, and distributed to NCT branches. Every branch had a copy of the NCT handbook, which was updated periodically with amendments and additional sheets sent by HQ to branches. It was the job of the Branch Secretary to maintain and update the handbook with relevant information and to circulate the handbook to all members of the committee.

The handbook contained information on various aspects of NCT work in order to provide background information, resources, guidance and ideas to NCT branches.

As the handbook was updated periodically, with amendments and additional sheets sent to branches via post, this series contains a number of NCT handbooks which are largely quite similar, but contain some different amendments and editions of certain information. Some handbooks are also annotated.

Sections of the handbook typically include: organisation of the NCT; NCT Sales; education; Council; Regional Coordinators Committee; regions, members and branches; New Generation; training; NCT Trading; schools and colleges; as well as sections for Specialist Committees and Working Groups.
