About this work
Description
There are a few letters dated 1900, but context suggests that these may be dated in error, in fact being written in 1899.
All letters appear to be copies of replies received to an enquiry made by Coopers regarding the effects of dipping sheep in a lime and sulphur dip. Replies have come from many institutions connected in some way with the wool or sheep trades, such as clothing manufacturers, sheep farmers or dealers. Some copy letters could be said to be testimonials, while many others report less satisfactory effects of using the product. Some replies indicated that Coopers may have been pressing for the end of use of lime & sulphur sheep dips.
The copying work on the letters appears to have been done by M S McElroy, Stenographer, Chicago.
This set of testimonials is similar to that at WF/C/S/09/06, except that it has been endorsed by the Argentinian consulate in Chicago, and was therefore presumably for use in South America.
