William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse: 14 autograph letters, signed by Rosse (except no.2, which is in the third person).
Correspondents include the science writer Dionysius Lardner (1793-1859) (no.1) and the civil engineer Charles Manby (1804-1884) (no.13); no.5, describing observations, mentions the astronomer George Biddell Airy (1801-1892).
No.4 has, attached, a newspaper cutting with an account of a Royal Society soirée under Rosse's presidency; no.6 is mounted with the address section of a different letter; nos.8 and 12 are attached to one another; no.14 is the final section of an incomplete letter.
Also includes an addressed envelope in Rosse's hand of a letter no longer present (no.15).
