Description

Photograph of a 15th or 16th century cylindrical drug jar from Valencia, Spain. The original jar is described as being maiolica ware (tin-glazed pottery decorated in blue on a white background) in the accession register for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1926. The photograph was probably used for the publication Catalogue of an Exhibition illustrating The History of Pharmacy, an exhibition held at the Wellcome Research Institution, London, 4 May - 28 September 1951. The drug jar is no longer held by Wellcome Collection.
