Description
Two tracings from John Ogilby's "English Atlas, Tome 1st: Africa" (1670) made by Sir Henry Bartle Frere and originally enclosed with his letter of 4 February 1870 (see GALTON/3/2/1/35). The tracings show part of the Nile from Aswan in Egypt and apparently ending near the Atlantic coast in modern day Democratic Republic of the Congo.
