25 autograph letters (nos. 16-40), signed, from Thomas Weldon Trench, chiefly to his parents and his sister Anna Maria Bolero, describing his humanitarian work during the Franco-Prussian War, his treatment for dysentery and his return from the war zone to the United Kingdom. Also present are a typed transcript of items 16-40 (23pp.) (no. 41) and a printed transcript of no. 22, with manuscript insertions corresponding to changes in the original (no. 42).
