About this work

Description

Manuscript letters and one typescript note. Letter dated 8 December 1888 lists the apparatus Shaw would like to purchase for testing various functions, e.g. scale for arm span and a machine for testing the strength of 'squeeze' and 'swiftness of blow'. There is a typescript note from H Darwin which accompanied the instruments, hoping they were correct. Letters dated 21 November 1895 discuss artificial impregnation of mares and a letter from Professor Leonard Pearson, Professor of Veterinary Medicine in University of Pennsylvannia, on the same subject. Encloses photographs of hares in different positions.
