Minute Book: Board of Directors, AGMs, EGMs

This volume contains minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors, and minutes of the EGMs and AGMs of the company. Meetings of the board took place monthly at most times, but at other times there were longer gaps (of up to six months or so) between meetings. The frequency of meetings often depended on whether there was a particular activity or project which the company was pursuing.

Matters discussed at meetings included the administration of the company and the board, statutory matters, the financial position of the company and distribution of profits, relations with other companies (often in the Coopers family), and particular products and manufacturing arrangements. These often included discussions on the company's Yalding (Kent) premises. Some matters connected with staff appointments are noted in the minutes.

A proposal to invest in an Italian company, Solplant, is noted on p. 22.

The despatch of three members of staff for development & sales work in Central Latin America for three years is noted on p. 46.

Changes to the company's trading in the USA & Canada are noted on pp. 62-63.

On p. 82 it is noted that the possibility of establishing a separate company to deal with sales to other manufacturers has been ruled out.

Preliminary development of work with the retail trade is noted on p. 102.

Devastating claims against the company for destruction of potatoes caused by use of the 'Tuberite' product, against skin spot, are noted on p. 138.
