Reproduction of a photograph showing divination among the Veddas of Sri Lanka. A man is sitting in a crouched position, holding a bow balanced by a string to determine which of the Vaku is responsible. The Veddas ascribed responsibility for illness to the Vaku or spirits of the dead. The reproduction is from The Veddas of Ceylon, by C. Seligmann. 1911. Cambridge Archaelogical & Ethnographic Series. Wellcome Collection hold a process print of the image (reference 581395i)
