Photograph of a replica mortar used by Gilbert Primrose (c.1535-1616) Scottish surgeon. The original mortar is held by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. The photograph was used in Comrie, John D.: History of Scottish medicine, London : Published for the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by Baillière, Tindall & Cox, 1932
