Purchased 1930 and 1933.

Though a qualified physician, Chomel devoted himself entirely to the study of botany and was a pupil of Tournefort. He was appointed a royal physician in 1706, and elected to the Académie des Sciences in 1720, and Dean of the Faculté de Médecine in 1735. His 'Jardin Botanique' later formed part of the École de Pharmacie in Paris.
