About this work

Description

Syphilis of the liver. This volume includes notes or cuttings on congenital syphilis of the liver. But see also volume on simple jaundice or family cirrhosis. This volume contains some notes or cuttings on :- the aetiology (spirochaeta pallida) of syphilis, and on the general subject of 'inherited syphilis' and theories connected with it. Contains also allusions to syphilis of the spleen and other viscera, and to the subject of tertiary syphilitic fever, but on syphilitic fever see my collection on 'Syphilitic fever, etc' (the last collection contains many notes and cuttings and references on Hepatic and Visceral subjects). Contains also notes and cuttings regarding: - Wassermann's reaction in Chronic disease of the liver, syphilitic peritonitis and ascites--unsuspected role of syphilis in cases of so-called 'alcoholic' cirrhosis and ascites. Early stages of amoebic abscess of the liver--to compare with hepatic gumma (see also second series). For an apparently successfully treated case of tertiary syphilitic disease of the liver, see my notes of Mr R M Bishop, my notes 6 July 1914, p. 98
