4 autograph letters, signed, from Hickman's acquaintance Thomas Dudley to Mrs. E. Hickman, concerning her late husband's claims to priority in the field of anaesthesia; each accompanied by a descriptive label from Wellcome Historical Medical Museum exhibition. This group of material originally comprised five letters but when they were catalogued one was found to be missing.
