About this work
Description
Charles Fletcher was a member of the RCP Committee on Smoking and Atmospheric Pollution, which produced the landmark report Smoking and Health in 1961. He was involved in the writing of the subsequent RCP reports in 1971 and 1977, and instrumental in the establishment of ASH in 1971, of which he was the first Chairman. He gave these files to ASH, and they are interesting in showing its genesis. Other personal papers of Fletcher were given to the CMAC in 1996, and are catalogued as a separate collection (PP/CMF). They include a little material relating to ASH in the 1980s, as well as some autobiographical notes.
