Project Summary:What is science for?' will be a 30-minute film to be broadcast on Teachers' TV, in which science teacher Alom Shaha sets out to answer questions about science. These will include: Why do we do science? Is it just another way of looking at the world, or is there something special about scientific knowledge? What inspires people to become scientists? What are the most important things we should be teaching children about science? Why is science education compulsory for children up to the age of 16? Should it continue to be? The film will be accompanied by web-based discussion and debate on a dedicated page on the Teachers' TV website.
