Description

James wrote to Pontecorvo asking if he had any candidates in mind and Pontecorvo offered himself for the position. Pontecorvo wrote a detailed letter (handwritten draft copy is included in this bundle) outlining his ideas and his requirements. James withdrew his offer as the Imperial College were unable to offer accommodation suitable to Pontecorvo's needs.
